• Biomedical optics: uses of light in biology and medicine
• Development of a high-resolution sub-surface optical imaging system similar to ultrasound, but with higher, micron-scale spatial resolution
• Development of treatment planning/online monitoring/feedback control and optimization tools during thermal therapy for (prostate) cancer
• Modeling and measurement of polarized light propagation in tissue
